MFDF 2019 Dates announced and Festival Hub to take over Cathedral Gardens!

MFDF 2019 Dates announced and Festival Hub to take over Cathedral Gardens!

We're delighted to announce that this year’s Manchester Food and Drink Festival will take place from 26thSeptember – 7thOctober with a jam-packed programme and a brand new outdoor location.

The iconic “Festival Hub” – the centrepiece of MFDF – will be staged for the first time at Cathedral Gardens creating an entirely new festival experience right in the heart of one of the city’s most picturesque public spaces.

The Festival Hub itself has traditionally taken place on Albert Square – starting out with those first few restaurants that dared take on the ‘pop up concept’ back in 2005 and growing into a chock-a-block food extravaganza that is known and loved by Mancunians and visitors up and down the land.

Now the Festival is using the building works taking place at the Town Hall as a chance to spread its wings and take over a new city centre space.

The Festival promises all the usual Festival Hub fun, as well as a lot of new experiences to be announced. There’ll be a killer street food line up, a bounty of beer, a new look live music stage, cookery theatres, extraordinary cuisine, pop up banquets, cocktails, the return of an artisan producers market, guest chefs… all within a splendid new urban garden setting.

With icons like Manchester Cathedral, the National Football Museum and Chethams School of Music as neighbours – this year’s Festival promises a food paradise in the heart of Manchester’s most impressive urban landscape.

As ever, MFDF will be about more than the Hub. A whole banquet of events will be happening across the city – taking in the biggest range of venues of any food festival in the country. From community cafes to art galleries, from roof top bars to shipping containers and fine dining to foraging - the MFDF programme will, as ever, leave no stone unturned in allowing festival-goers to experience the full breadth of this amazing city.

The Manchester Food and Drink Festival will close with the hotly anticipated MFDF Gala Dinner and Awards – the North West food industry’s biggest night of the year – on 7thOctober in the exquisite Gorton Monastery.

More Festival announcements will be made from now through to the Festival - with the MFDF socials updated with all the latest news…
